Follow Rules of the Road (PSA Radio Script)

Ever been late to an appointment, only to be stopped by a train?

You're dealing with more than extra frustration this time of year when you meet a combine or grain wagon on Iowa roads. You're dealing with your safety.

Last year, nearly 100 Iowans were hurt and 15 were killed in accidents involving farm vehicles. A recent study at Iowa State University shows that one-fourth of all farm-related accidents involve motorists other than the farmer.

Many farm-related accidents are rear-end collisions, some are head-on collisions on gravel roads. Others happen when the tractor operator is making a left turn.

If you're following a tractor or combine this month, watch the driver's hand and turn signals carefully. And use a little patience. You'll both be glad you did.
