Amputation - Supplemental Activity 2

Group Role Play

Time required:
15 minutes

Students will be divided into small groups, and each group will be presented a card with a "handicap" involving a type of amputation. Examples may be the loss of a hand, arm, leg, finger, etc. Establish a uniform type of farm for the entire class to use, such as dairy, grain, horse farm, burley tobacco, etc. Have the students list and describe the tasks they would have difficulty with or would be unable to do with the handicap.

Students will also be asked to list adaptation methods used to overcome these difficulties and how they would be used.

Two students should be selected from each group to present the information to the class.
